Who Will Speak for You?

Peace of Mind for Life is designed to engage everyone in conversations about end-of-life care choices. The intention is for every person, regardless of age or health status, to make well-informed choices and to complete their Advance Directives. This will assure that one’s chosen Health Care Proxy fully understands these basic wishes as directed in a Living Will. If you have started the process of filling out forms and having conversations and then stop, this workshop is for you. If you have done nothing to plan for this most important time of life, this workshop is also for you.

Laurie Schwartz is one of the early leaders of the Hospice movement in the United States. In 1979, she co-founded and directed what is now Hudson Valley Hospice (formerly Hospice, Inc. of Ulster and Dutchess Counties, NY, and Hospice Association of Ulster County) and was recognized in 1995 by Hospice as a dynamic visionary and social activist. In 2018, Laurie was honored for her work in the field of dying and death by Hudson Valley Hospice at their yearly gala. She has trained hundreds of people through Hospice’s volunteer training program and through Securelanding programs. Laurie is the Cofounder and Chair of the Board of Circle of Friends for the Dying, a nonprofit organization to oversee the establishment of a comfort care home for people with three months or less to live.
